West Hyattsville Metro Station Master Plan

The new plan for the West Hyattsville Metro Station in Prince George’s County, Maryland is the first new transit-oriented development for Prince George’s County in suburban Washington, DC. The plan is a total redevelopment of the existing station with the introduction of higher intensity residential, office and commercial throughout.

Adjacent to the new West Hyattsville Metro station is the station square, a center of activity for the surrounding area. Throughout the plan are smaller neighborhood parks and open spaces, all interconnected by a new park system that provides more access and connection from the surrounding neighborhoods to the park.

Aside from improved trails and acceess, the central feature of the park is a new lake, proposed at the convergence of Sligo Creek and the Northwest Branch of the Anacostia River. This new lake improves the site’s stormwater management potential while providing an exciting new focus to the surrounding park.
